Chloe Atkinson, Owner of The Green Room Sawbridgeworth
Hi there, just a little bit about me, I’m Chloe the new owner of the Green Room Sawbridgeworth.
I took over The Green Room, Sawbridgeworth in July 2018 after spending 10 years as an NHS Manager. Originally from Hackney and after moving to Harlow in 2001, I moved to Sawbridgeworth in 2011 with my partner and my then 5-year-old daughter and 1-year old son.
Since then I have always loved popping into The Green Room to see what hidden gems I could uncover as gifts for friends and family!
Although I was always passionate and proud of my NHS career, when I saw the shop was for sale I knew straight away that it was the career change I’d been looking for. I needed a channel for my creative streak!
As you can imagine, I was very nervous about making such a huge change to mine and my family’s life and, considering I had never run a retail business before, was worried that the challenge would be too big! However, now 3 months in I’m certain it was the right choice! I’ve been overwhelmed by the support and encouragement I’ve had from other local business owners, the public and the amazing team we have at The Green Room.
I’m still learning the ropes but have some exciting ideas to bring to life over the next couple of years, one of which is this website! I’ve worked with the very talented ThinkCreativ to make sure The Green Room website gives online customers the same shopping experience as visiting the shop in person.
Although our wonderful team, Marion, Julia and Katie work in the shop through the week, I’m in the shop most days. As a business owner, this face to face contact with customers and staff is important to me. I’m very passionate that customers feel valued when visiting us and want the website to hold these same values and principles. It’s great to help customers feel excited when they leave the shop with their new purchase, whether it’s a gift for someone else or a gift to themselves. This is the feeling I love when I shop!
